General Failure sending email

Hi All,

I’m not sure what changed – since yesterday, whenever I try to send out email on my BB, the email is returned and the error is “general failure”. Does anyone have any clue how or where to troubleshoot?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a little issue with my Blackberry curve 8350i, but I think this might go with several models. One day my Blackberry updated an application and restarted, but when restarting suddenly I got a blank screen showing a battery sign with a red line. I took out the battery and put it in again, but no luck. I searched on many forums if anyone experienced the same as me. I found a lot of topics but no solution. I called tech support of my service provide and fortunately I talked to a tech guy who was willing to help. He said that this error message usually might appear when the battery is faulty, not original (not my case) or device is not working, but before taking a final statement he wanted me to try something first. He said to take out the battery, the SIM card and any external memory card. Then to clean any contacts with air. I followed his instructions and after that the device worked again without any problems. I would like to share this experience on this forum maybe this will help other to to solve similar issues. Potential legislation would allow mobile subscribers to unlock cell phones

Forming legislation could unwind a ban of the ability to unlock cellphones and switch carriers once contracts have been fulfilled, which would help subscriber growth among regional carriers.

On January 26th of this year, the U.S. Copyright office decided to remove an exemption under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act that again made it illegal to unlock a cell phone subscriber package and transfer to another carrier once a service contract is fulfilled. This essentially maintained the status quo of purchased cell phones being locked to the original service provider that the consumer initiated the agreement with.

New legislation, however, proposed in Senate bill S.517 and associate House bill H.R. 1123 would restore the exemption under the Digital Millennium Act, which would allow consumers who have completed their original cell phone contracts to unlock their mobile devices for use on a different carrier’s network. Other Senate bill, S.467, also proposes cell phone unlocking capabilities, however, it does not mention any requirement to actually fulfill the service requirement. Either way, there are several proposed bills in both chambers of Congress that will open for debate this Spring; each looks to alter the current ban on the ability to unlock mobile phones. How to fix BlackBerry App Error 200

BlackBerry handsets are great for emailing and messaging, but as with anything electrical, they can sometimes go wrong. One of the more common error messages that seems to come up is “App Error 200″. It still puzzles me why the manufacturers can’t make these error messages a little bit more helpful and actually explain what’s gone wrong – at least then it would be a bit easier to work out how to fix it. Fortunately though, “App Error 200″ is usually fixed with a straight forward firmware update/reinstall.

The error is caused by an installed application failing and damaging the BlackBerry Operating system in the process. The fix is to simply erase and reinstall the operating system to your phone. This sounds difficult but isn’t too hard in practice. It’s something you can do yourself on your home PC using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. If you don’t feel confident in doing this yourself then you can take it to a BlackBerry repair centre and they’ll carry the repair out for you, but you might have to wait a couple of weeks for them to do it and if you’re out of warranty you’ll probably have to pay for it.

How To Fix Blackberry Error ID 30702

Are you unable to download apps to your blackberry because of a recent ‘App World’ update you made?
Error Message: There is an issue with the current session. Please log in to continue. (Error Id: 30702)

Are you unable to access your Blackberry ID Account information?
Error Message: Unable to update your blackberry id account information.

To solve these blackberry issues, you must navigate to Payment Options. [Go To: Blackberry App World >> My Account >> Payment Options]. You would then be asked to log in. Once logged in, you can back out or return to App World. Thats It.

Alternate Method

An alternate method is:
Step 1: Shutdown your blackberry phone and remove your battery and sim card.

Step 2: Re-insert the battery (do not insert the sim yet) and put on your blackberry phone

Blackberry screen goes white and says error 603

Error 603 is basically that one of your apps has corrupted the software, if you can remember which app you installed right before it went wrong remove it and reset phone, or you could remove all apps. and yes carphone warehouse should sort it out for you.

Other ways to fix

Remove the battery from the back of the BlackBerry smartphone.
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer using a USB cable.
In the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, double-click Application Loader.
Click Start under the Update Software heading.
The Device Password dialog appears. If the BlackBerry smartphone is password enabled, enter the password. If the BlackBerry smartphone does not have a password, leave this field empty.
Click OK.
If prompted with a list of Available Updates, choose the latest software version by selecting the corresponding check box and then click Next.
Click the Settings button under the Device backup and restore options.
Make sure that the Back up device data automatically during the installation process check box is not selected.
Make sure that the Delete all application data and Erase all currently installed applications check boxes are both selected.

I personally encountered this error myself a few weeks ago and had to Google my way out of it.  Here’s the post with the fix I found:

“Error 523″, “App Error 523″, or “JVM 523″ appears on the BlackBerry smartphone

Today I’d like to talk about a system error that a friend of mine recently encountered, and how they got their BlackBerry® smartphone up and running again in no time! The error in question is when the BlackBerry smartphone displays a solid white screen with the message ‘JVM 523’ displayed. This error may also be displayed as ‘Error 523’ or ‘App Error 523’ depending on which type of BlackBerry smartphone you are using.

Here’s an overview of what this error means, and more importantly, what to do if you encounter it.

What does it mean?

The first thing you might be wondering is what does ‘JVM 523’ mean? Simply put, it means the BlackBerry smartphone encountered a Java™ Virtual Machine (JVM) application related problem and is unable to continue running. As mentioned earlier, if this error occurs, the BlackBerry smartphone will display a solid white screen with a small message stating ‘JVM 523’ on the screen.

Troubleshooting this error

If you encounter this error, the first thing you should do is perform a hard reset of your BlackBerry smartphone. Depending on what occurs after the reset, one of the following options will be applicable.

The BlackBerry smartphone restarts successfully

If the device has restarted successfully and no longer displays the error, I recommend performing a backup of your BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry® Desktop Software. For information on how to perform a backup, click on one of the links below depending on which type of computer you have.

BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac 2.2.1 – Backup smartphone data or tablet data
BlackBerry Desktop Software for PC 6.1 – Backup smartphone data or tablet data

Tip: In case you don’t have BlackBerry Desktop Software installed, click here for the PC version, or click here for the Mac version.

After performing a backup, continue using your BlackBerry smartphone as per normal. In the event you encounter the same error again in the future, please complete the steps below to perform a web-based BlackBerry device software update.

The BlackBerry smartphone does not restart successfully

In the event the BlackBerry smartphone still shows the ‘JVM 523’ error message after performing a hard reset, the next step is to verify you are using the most current version of BlackBerry Device Software. You can do this by performing a web-based BlackBerry Device Software update that will ensure you are using the most recent version of BlackBerry Device Software.

Note: If you haven’t made a backup before encountering this error and performing a hard reset didn’t resolve the issue, you may not be able to back up your BlackBerry smartphone. If this is the case, hopefully you were using BlackBerry® Protect, which will allow you to restore most of your important information when the BlackBerry smartphone has been recovered successfully.
